Congrats to Eleanor Yeung, FWS and student of AWSEC in Hong Kong for having passed the French Wine Scholar exam with highest honors!
About Eleanor:
''I am a practicing barrister and a part-time lecturer in law. Wine has always been a big part of my life, but I had not taken any classes on winemaking, tasting or pairing until I came across the French Wine Scholar program through an invitation to join as my friend’s learning companion. When I said yes to my friend, I had no clue what I was getting myself into and certainly had no idea that it is a very prestigious certification program in the wine industry.
As you can imagine, during the first class I was quite overwhelmed by the wealth of information and unacquainted vocabularies and French names. But as it turned out, I became hooked to French wine learning in no time. I was so intrigued by the viticultural history and practices, climate, topography, terroir, grape varieties and wine styles of the 10 French regions. I am extremely grateful that I have joined and graduated from the program as it opened me up to a whole new world of viticulture in France.
After becoming a French Wine Scholar, I feel equipped to move forward and dig deeper into the viticulture in specific regions. As a Bordeaux and Rhone wine lover, I would very much like to further my wine passion by joining the master-level programs of these 2 regions. The French Wine Immersion Study Tours offered by WSG are definitely on my bucket list as well.''
