Congratulations to Marie-Claude Harrisson, FWS, for passing the French Wine Scholar exam with highest honors!

About Marie-Claude:

My passion for wine started in 2011, during an introductory course offered by my husband, prior to our first trip to California Wine Country. At the time, I was busy with my medical training, so it stayed still. Nevertheless, my husband and I were enjoying wine tasting and wine-oriented travel. I graduated in 2015 and I took a few years to settle in my hometown and to start my professional life. At that moment, I was pursuing another passion of mine: running and triathlon. It eventually resulted in injury and disappointment.  That made me realize I missed studying and I was ready to go further in my wine education. The next step to fill in that goal was to enroll in a wine certification program. Since I live in a small town in Eastern Canada, the online learning program of Wine Scholar Guild met my needs.  I am used to the scientific rigor of university classes and I was very satisfied with the quality of the study material. Along with the FWS certification, I also completed WSET Level 2 and Level 3 with Napa Valley Wine Academy in the last year. With this in-depth learning about French wine regions, FWS gave me confidence for my WSET diploma journey.

Pursuing my wine education goals helps me keep balance in my life, between work, family, friends, and the right amount of running. I am very grateful to my husband Francis and father-in-law Yvon for their support in my studies. I would finally like to dedicate this accomplishment to my best study partner, my beloved sphynx cat Zinfandel, who passed away earlier this year.
