Congratulations to Gordana Josovic, IWS, for passing the Italian Wine Scholar exam with highest honors!

About Gordana:
I am a wine buyer and an instructor at San Francisco Wine School.
I was bitten by a wine bug one summer in the late ‘80s during a vacation at the Dalmatian coast while sampling local wines. From that moment on, I used every opportunity to taste and discover more about each wine in front of me.

After my move to the US, I spent years of working in San Francisco restaurant industry where I learned from some of the best wine professionals in California.  This new knowledge coupled with my love for wine inspired me to pursue wine studies as a career. I have held different positions from Server and Bartender to Sommelier, Wine Director, and Beverage Director at various companies.  Becoming a Wine Educator was a natural progression for me, since it runs in my blood; my parents, my sister, my cousins, all have been teachers.

My profession and the participation in numerous wine competitions allowed me to spend time at many wine regions all over the world.  I have gotten to know amazing people and stories behind my favorite wines. Everything that had led me to this point in my life transformed my passion for all things wine, food and beverage into a life style.

I hold the French Wine Scholar with highest honors credential from the Wine Scholar Guild, the Certified Beverage Specialist with the Society of Wine Educators, the California Wine Appellation Specialist with highest honors from San Francisco Wine School, and the Advanced Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers.
I am currently studying to sit for my Master Sommelier Exam. Italian Wine Scholar program helps me tremendously while covering Italy since it is much more comprehensive than some of the materials I have been using.  My colleges and study groups members have noted that the program’s different approach and information cannot be found in other studying guides.

The program is helping me in my studies for the Master Sommelier Diploma. Its in depth approach to all of the Italian regions separates it from other studying materials and provides a complete picture of the Italian wine landscape.
I am looking forward to teaching new generations of Italian Wine Scholars for years to come!
