Congratulations to Edward Stevenson, SWS, for achieving highest honors in the Spanish Wine Scholar exam with West London Wine School.
About Edward:
My passion for wine started when I was a teenager. I was on a Spanish trip with my school and I got to visit a cava winery outside Barcelona. From then on, I became fascinated on how wine was made. I have worked in bars, restaurants, wine shops and account manager roles. I love being in a trade where I am passionate about the product and the industry.
I am currently manager of Jeroboams flagship wine shop in Belgravia, London. The demographic for the area means that I get to sell some of the greatest and finest wines.
I have both the WSET level 2 & 3. The method was fairly different to the SWS. I felt with the WSET the program is more scientific and the answers were more boxed in. The SWS had much more historical and cultural approach. Also Jimmy was a fantastic tutor and I look forward to booking myself onto the Italian WS next.
The Spanish course opened my eyes to some fascinating wines from Priorat & the Canary Islands. It also has given me all the key tools to become a specialist in Spanish wines. As I work in the trade, I get to put what I learnt into action and encourage my customers to take a journey through Spain. For me, I look forward to getting back out to Spain to visit some of the wonderful regions and meet the winemakers.
