About Ellie:
I have always loved learning about wine and would often gather friends to go to wine tastings or visit vineyards, particularly when travelling. It was only after leaving my long-term career in finance in 2020 that I started studying wine formally, and launched my wine consultancy, Amante Wine, in 2021. I host tastings, advise on wine for events or special occasions and write about wine and travel. In 2022 I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to explore more wine regions, as well as expanding on what Amante Wine can offer.
I passed Levels 1, 2 and 3 of the WSET Awards in Wine with Distinction and am considering enrolling in the Diploma course. The SWS programme is incredibly in depth about all aspects of Spanish wine so I know I already have a great grounding when it comes to the Diploma.
Having studied Spanish at university, the SWS really complemented my knowledge about Spain and its history and culture, of which wine is a big part, and gave me a renewed passion for learning more. Encouraged by my SWS studies, I am currently living in Jerez in Andalucía for a couple of months to pursue my love for sherry, visiting bodegas and writing about the area and its wines.
